Banks Chor is the story of Vidhu, a computer engineer who falls prey to the prevalent urban yet largely unspoken banking scam in India. He falls for it and loses his money. It's just a movie! The film tells the story of Vidhu (Ranvir Shorey), who is a computer engineer in Delhi, he finds a message from an anonymous person to put "easy money" in a bank account. He finds out that this account is not in his name but in the name of someone else. He finds that this account has been created by people at the bank. In order to make profit, banks create fake accounts and make people deposit their money. Later when they return to withdraw their money, they are told by the bank that it cannot be withdrawn because the owner of the account has died in a car accident. The bank does not have the money to pay them back, so this is a scam from the bank. Vidhu losts all his money. The film has a "strong message" against corruption and greed. "Bank Chor" was released on 10 July 2012, and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. Raja Sen of Rediff gave it 2 stars out of 5, saying it "has neither heft nor polish." He added, ""Bank Chor", as a premise goes, is as good as there gets ... but as a movie it's very far from the mark." Shubhra Gupta of "The Indian Express" said that "Bank Chor" was "relevant for now". The film was remade in Kannada as "Chikkarayudu" and in Telugu as "Chekka Chor".
